Seeking Funds from a College or Department
Many UNL colleges and academic departments provide support for Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) that sponsor events, plan activities and attend conferences. An organization completing any Fund Requests must be an RSO. The Association of Students of the University of Nebraska Student Government (ASUN) requires an RSO to have at least five (5) members (current UNL students), a president, a treasurer and a UNL faculty/staff member to serve as an advisor. All RSOs must maintain a current account in the Student Organization Financial Services (SOFS) Office and be in “Total Compliance” Status. If you are seeking funding for an event, activity or conference, you must start the application process by completing an Event Planning Registration (EPR) form in the Student Involvement office.
All colleges and departments require a cover letter which explains the event, activity or conference; describes the RSO and specified the amount requested. In addition to the cover letter, each college and department requires a Conference or Event Information Form and a Conference or Event Budget Form.
The cover letter needs to be addressed to the Dean of the College or Department Director. Be sure the letter is clear and concise with no spelling or grammatical errors.
Create the Conference or Event Information and Budget Forms by completing the downloadable forms found below.
Downloadable Forms:
- Event Information Form
- Event Budget Form
- Event Budget Form (MS OFFICE 2007)
- Post-Event Evaluation Form
- Conference Information Form
- Conference Budget Form
- Post-Conference Evaluation Form
After completing these items (and any others required by the funding source), submit the package to the appropriate office (either via email or in person). Your organization advisor will need to sign the form or send an email from his/her own Lotus Notes email address to the designated staff member to indicate approval of the conference or funding requests.
Please do not forget to send a thank you letter to each funding source following your event, activity or conference.
